Simple Hypnosis Vizualization Techniques to Help You Treat Insomnia

If you suffer from insomnia or some other sleep disorder, then sleep hypnosis is an ideal therapy option. If you have attended a ‘Creative Visualization’ class, you would be aware of a common exercise that is followed very often. You will be asked to close your eyes and imagine a blank dark screen. This is where you can create your ‘bubble’ or ‘ideal space’. Every time you are faced with a problem in life, you can imagine and drift into this ideal place of yours. This visualization can be used in case of sleep hypnotherapy too.

Sleep hypnosis can help combat your problems, using this visualization. While practicing sleep hypnosis, imagine that you are in this space that you have created. While you imagine this, see to it that you take slow, deep breaths. Continue to keep your eyes closed as you breathe slowly.

Remember, if you focus on a specific problem from the initial stage, you will be able to handle it better. It is important that you view the problem from all possible perspectives, so that you get a better understanding of it. Once you do this, you can analyze the situation much better. Hence, you can come up with better/creative ways to deal with the situation.

Sleep Hypnosis Visualization Techniques

There are some simple visualization techniques that you can use.
1. While you imagine yourself in your ideal place, start counting sheep, just as you did when you were a child.

2. You can imagine that you are slowly walking into a beautiful forest, along a path. In such a forest setting, you would have a calm frame of mind and can easily fall asleep.

3. Imagine that there is a pendulum that is swaying slowly.

4. Keep repeating phrases to yourself, such as ‘I am exhausted’, ‘I am sleepy’, ‘I am almost asleep’ and so on. But don’t be negative and think, ‘why is this not working?’ or ‘I am not able to sleep at all!’ Just focus on your breathing and stay positive.

If all of these techniques fail, then it is best to visit a physician and tell him/her about your sleep disorder. One of the many reasons that cause sleep apnea is excessive snoring, which can actually be dangerous. If your doctor does advice a CPAP machine to help control your sleeping breathing, use it. When you breathe into the mask, it creates a soothing rhythm that will help you fall asleep.
